Vortex

PEEEEW! PLOP!
"Yes!"
"6+."
Praying inside my head that I beat the first place marker. Sprinting over to see where it landed. Second. So close. 5 centimetres difference. I stay with my marker guarding my precious place. Last person steps up to the line to throw and hurls it over my head. I frown angrily and trudge back to the line. Minutes later I get called to the line, vortex in hand. I step back, take three steps and it launches out of my hand like a rocket and the force pops my shoulder. What a throw! I can't believe it, it is colossal. First place.
"Yes!"
The next thrower is the one that beat me before but he lands behind me. Butt my hopes fade as I duck under a vortex. Overall second place ain't bad.
